Cup of Joe

A cup of coffee a day keeps the doctor away. Well, not really, but research suggests it could reduce a woman’s risk of getting a certain type of breast cancer.

Recently published research from Sweden found that coffee drinkers were less likely to have breast cancer than women who rarely drank coffee. The scientists compared lifestyle factors and coffee consumption between women with breast cancer and woman without similar in age. After adjusting their data to account for other factors like weight, education and exercise, they found the effect of coffee was only measurable for antiestrogen-resistant estrogen-receptor (ER)-negative breast cancer.

While the scientists have yet to come up with a reason for the association, it is evident that coffee may have positive effects reducing the chance of that one type of breast cancer.

So ladies, keep on drinking.
