Hoffman Tips - Bug Bites

Summer is officially here and it’s that time of the year when bugs emerge to bug us. While some insects compose real threats like Lyme disease, West Nile and allergic reactions, most bugs are nothing more than a nuisance.

The size or itch of your welt does depend on your skin characteristics (i.e. mosquito magnets) but you can still work on ways to keep your skin blemish free. When earth’s smallest creatures attack  there are plenty of ways to reduce the likelihood of having them leave a mark.

You can avoid wearing colorful or bright clothes and scented lotions or perfumes to keep bees at bay. Also keep in mind the odors picnics leave, especially around garbage areas. Before drinking from cups, bottles and cans, look inside for floating microbes since stinging insects are attracted to sweet drinks.

Although doing these things may not make you invisible to bees, wasps and hornets, it’s still worth a shot!
