You the Owners Manual Radio Show Air with Arthur W. Perry, MD, FACS and Michael F. Roizen, MD

Dr. Perry graduated from Rutgers College magna cum laude and received his MD degree with distinction in research from the Albany Medical College of Union University in 1981. He then trained in general surgery at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Hospital and in burn surgery at the New York Hospital /Cornell Medical Center. Following this, he trained in plastic surgery with Thomas J. Krizek, MD, FACS, at the University of Chicago where he was Chief Resident in 1987. He then performed a cosmetic surgery fellowship with Drs. Baker and Gordon in Miami.

Dr. Perry then joined the full time faculty of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. While he is now in private practice, he was recently promoted to Clinical Associate Professor and has an active role in the teaching of medical students in his private office. In addition, he holds the faculty rank of Clinical Associate at the University of Pennsylvania , where he helped teach the plastic surgery residents aesthetic plastic surgery.  Dr. Perry is a consultant in new product development for the Johnson & Johnson Company. Dr. Perry is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Perry's practice consists of aesthetic, or cosmetic surgery. He has published extensively in this field and has contributed not only scientific papers to journals but also chapters to medical textbooks. He presented original research on liposuction at the national meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and published an important article in the journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Perry wrote the neck liposuction chapter on the internet plastic surgery book, emedicine (www.emedicine.com). His book, "Are You Considering Cosmetic Surgery?" was published by Harper Collins/Avon Press in 1997.  His new book, " Straight Talk about Cosmetic Surgery " was published by Yale University Press in 2007.  This book can be ordered on Amazon.com and purchased in all bookstores.

Dr. Perry was appointed by Governor Christine Whitman to the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners in 1995. He was reappointed in March of 2000 and spent over 10 years on the Board, the longest of any plastic surgeon in the United States.  Dr. Perry was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to Plastic Surgery  by the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons.  Dr. Perry was the Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Somerset Medical Center in New Jersey and has been selected for inclusion in the Best Doctors in the New York Metro Area in 1999 and 2000. He was listed in the Top Doctors in the New York Area book for 2001 through 2006. He was listed as one of four plastic surgeons in the New Jersey Life magazine's Top New Jersey Doctors, as one of eight plastic surgeons in New Jersey Magazine's Top Doctors in 2005, and as one of the top ten New Jersey plastic surgeons in New York Magazine in 2007.

Michael F. After serving as CEO of the Biotechnology Research Corporation of Central New York, he accepted his current position as chair of the Division of Anesthesiology, Critical Care Medicine, and Comprehensive Pain Management at the Cleveland Clinic, responsible for over 180 operatories, 124 critical care beds and 28 pain therapy intervention units.  He has recently been named the first Chief Wellness Officer at the Cleveland Clinic (and, perhaps, the first CWO at any major academic medical center).
