Ralph has been teaching at the New York Botanical Garden for nearly 40 years and has been editor of the gardening section of the Americana Encyclopedia Yearbook since 1984. He has authored the NY Gardener’s Guide, Tri-State Gardener’s Guide for NY, NJ, & CT, Tips from the Garden Hotline and several editions of Ralph Snodsmith’s Fundamentals of Gardening. He has been featured on Good Morning America and his syndicated newspaper column, The Garden Hotline is read by millions. Ralph has most recently been presented the “Service to the Industry” Award by the NY Turf and Landscape Association, 2006. He is the recipient of the New York Botanical Garden, Distinguished Educator in Plant Studies Award and the Goldleaf Award of the International Arborist Society, plus many others. Ralph is an Ornamental Horticulture/Turf Management graduate from the University of Illinois and the former Executive Director of the Queens Botanical Garden.
